In May 1977 Likud gained the largest number of votes in the elections to the Knesset Menahem Begin, head of that party, was invited to form the government. To ensure a majority he invited Agudat Israel his coalition which also included the National Religious Party, and later, the Democratic Movement for Change. The polemic notes that in a brief period one can feel the results of this agreement. It contrasts the reputed terms of the agreement and the reality of the situation, at one point stating that the fact is that since Agudat Israel sealed their agreement to enter the coalition more than three hundred cases have been opened against Jewish girls who refuse service for religious reasons, whereas prior to the agreement there were only twenty two such cases. The reality is that the military leadership has begun to conduct themselves with greater strictness and more drastically against girls who refuse service. The polemic names the parties concerned, praising several religious leaders for their opposition, among them Rabbi Eliezer Menachem Shach (1898-2001).
