Description
Document description of the passing of the Hatam Sofer. The document was written by R. Naphtali b. Mordecai Ephraim Fishel Sofer (1819–1899), and printed in his Bet Ephraim (Pressburg 1872), as told by his father who was present at the event. R. Naphtali, an important Hungarian rabbi, was born in Pressburg, circumcised, raised, and educated by the Hatam Sofer, and subsequently became an outstanding pupil of Hatam Sofer. He served in several prestigious communities and authored several important works of responsa and novellae.
