Description		    Salary record of R. Israel Lipshutz, rabbi of Keszthely, for the year 1827-1828. Jews are recorded in Keszthely as early as 1711, a community, however, did not develop until the end of the century. The first synagogue was erected in 1780 and refurbished 30 years later.
