Detailed
Description
Birkat ha-Ilanot (blessings for the trees). This booklet is bound with the original grey wrappers, which serves as a title page. It states that it is Birkat ha-Ilanot with dinnim that it is customary to say in the month of Nisan. It is dated, “[and on the seventh day] he rested ùáú (702=1942) and was refreshed” (Exodus 31:17). The publisher’s address is given, Lusitania St. no. 10. The text is in Judeo-Arabic and Hebrew, the halakhic and descriptive material in the former, the prayers in the latter, all in a single column in square unvocalized letters. The prayers here are much more extensive than those said upon seeing blossoms budding for the first time in the spring.

A number of Hebrew books were printed in Casablanca. However, during World War II, particularly during the middle years, very few Hebrew publications were issued, this work being an exception. Although Birkat ha-Ilanot are recorded in bibliographic works this edition is not in the Bet Eked.
