Detailed
Description
12 pages of the Author's epic work Torat Hayyim (4 volumes, Paks 1897-1911), extensive novellae on the first two parts of the Shulhan Arukh, Orah Hayyim, chapters 1-265. The present lot covers chapters 90-104. R. Jacob Shalom b. Hayyim Sofer (1854-1921) was born at Gyomoro, Hungary into an illustrious rabbinical family. He was educated by his father and only accepted a rabbinical position in the later years of his life at the Hevra Shass of Budapest where he served until his passing. His erudite scholarship is evident from his works, which contains the approbation of noted Hungarian rabbis. He also wrote Jeshivov Sofer (Jerusalem 1976) novellae to Tractate Sanhedrin and responsa.
