This volume is the first volume of a two volume work. The subtitle is: "Teil 1. Die Entwicklung der Bewegung von den ersten Anfängen bis 1932" [The development of the movement from the first beginnings to 1932]. The second volume appeared in 1933 with the subtitle: "Teil 2. Das Werk der organisierten Arbeiterschaft und seine Problematik " [The work of the organized workers and its problem].
The topic of these volumes is labor and trade organizations in Palestine. Bibliographical references are included. The author, Walter Preuss (b. 1895), also wrote other books on similar topics, including: A statistical survey of Jewish workers in Palestine (published in International labour review, Geneva. February, 1931, v. 23, p. [227]-239), Industrie in Palaestina 1932/33 (Berlin, 1933), Co-operation in Israel and in the world (Jerusalem, 1960), and other books on the labor movement in Israel.
