Description		    Three complimentary works on Bereishit, Shemot, and Vayikra by R. Abraham ben Judah Litsch Rosenbaum ha-Levi. The title page has a decorative frame and states that Shoshanat Avraham is comprised of three books, namely, Ohel Leah on Bereishit, Me’ir Enayim on Shemot, and Ateret Esther on Vayikra. R. Rosenbaum was also author of She’elot u’Teshuvot Ben Yehudah. The verso of the title page has the cautionary warning that negative terms used in the work refer to ancient peoples not to contemporary gentiles, for whose well being we are obligated to pray. There are approbations from R. Simhah Bunim Sofer, R. Moses Leib ben Judah Litsch Rosenbaum, brother of the author, R. Mordecai Gimpel Jaffe, R. Isaac Belazer, and R. Elijah David ben Benjamin Rabbinovitch Teomom. Next is R. Litsch Rosenbaum’s introduction, concluding with a paragraph from the author’s only son. A page supplication in verse in which the initial letter of each line vertically spells the author’s name and the first letter of each word horizonitlly spells Avraham. A lengthy introduction form the author’s son follows and then the text, which is in two columns in rabbinic type, excepting headers and initial words. The homilies are ethical and hortatory, for example, in Lech Lecha it admonishes mohalim to master all the laws of milah.
