Description		    Novellae on tractate Bezah by R. Jacob ben Joseph ha-Rofe, a resident of Bagdad. The title is from, “And Hezekiah listened to them, and showed them all the house of his treasures, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment (shemen ha-Tov), and all the house of his armor, and all that was found in his treasures” (II Kings 20:13). The title page states that it is on tractate Yom Tov, which is tractate Bezah and some of the discussion of the rabbis on the related subjects. “They will return with glad song” (Psalms 126:6) a discourse on the Exodus is added appended to the end of the book. The title page is dated, “Truly [G-d] is good to Israel אך טוב לישראל (609 = 1849)” (Psalms 73:1). Next is an introduction from R. Jacob ben David and approbations from R. Raphael Shabbatei ibn Yakar, R. Joshua Eli and R. Hayyim Moses Periski of Constantinople, and from R. Raphael ben Elijah Kazin of Bavel, followed by the author’s introduction.

The text, in a single column in rabbinic type, excepting headers and initial words, is hiddushim on tractate Bezah. The discourse on the Exodus is from 161a through 172b.
