Detailed Description |
|
Holocaust responsa. The title page describes the work as a collection of responsa from leading rabbis in Hungary the majority of whom perished sanctifying the Holy Name during the decree of התש"ד (1944) [May their blood be Avenged]. Some had begun to be printed prior to the decree and fragments remained, now being brought to light. Thetitle page is followed by an introduction from the director of Hevrat Shas that it is with joy that he is able to publish this work. It had been the intention of this society, headed by R. Meir Shraga ha-Kohen Kalin to publish earlier for their jubilee, as had been done twenty five years prior to that by R. Jacob Shalom Sofer. Now, the survivors, few in number, have the holy obligation to save these precious pearls snatched from the fire. There are thirty seven entries by different rabbis. At the end of the volume is a four page two column list of Hungarian rabbis who perished al Kiddush Ha-Shem. |
