Detailed
Description
Attractive Hebrew-German manuscript in praise of his wife by Joseph Kisch. There are two decorative title pages, the first in German, the second in Hebrew, the latter with a drawing of the head of a woman and the title, “For he shall give his angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways” (Psalms 91:11). The text is comprised of facing Hebrew and German pages. The first page in Hebrew has the heading, three stand in Gan Eden Olam, the German page Drei Blüm in Weltgarten (three flowers in the World Garden). The versified text is accompanied on several pages by calligraphic headings and/or artistic frames for initial words. For example, the word Todah (Thanks) is set within a vase, while the German initial word, Dankbarket is within an artistic frame. The Hebrew is square letters, both in a fine artistic hand. The volume concludes with a prayer and Amen.
