Description		    Novellae on the Talmud and aggadah by R. Simeon Meir Salamon. R. Salamon writes on the ttile page that he called the book Mizrah Shemesh for, according the the Jerusalem Talmud (Sanhedrin) in that the sun shines to bring peace to all men, so too our holy Torah brings peace to all who in the world, and it is the “the East Gate” (Jeremiah 19:1), “the Gate of the Foundation” (II Chronicles 23:5), the gate on which is halakhah is founded. Furthermore, R. Salamon adds, his name is alluded to in the title מז"ש. There are approbations from R. Abraham Isaac ha-Kohen Kook, first Ashkenazi chief rabbi of modern Erez Israe, given in London, and from R. Ben Zion Meir Ouziel, Sephardic chief rabbi of Israel. In place of an introduction is prefatory remarks from the author’s other books. Next is a table of ma’amar ha-shalom with forty-one entries and the text, in a single column in square letters. Mizrah Shemesh concludes with a commentary on Avot.
