Detailed
Description
Only edition of the aggadic novellae on the Torah, haftorot, Psalms, five Megillot, and Pirkei Avot, as well as some novellae and eulogies by R. Menahem ben Meir Eisenstadter, av bet din Ungvar. The text is accompanied by novellae from R. David Deutsch (Ohel David), and R. Meir Eshav (Imrei Esh), respectively the author’s grandfather and father. On the verso of the title page is the caution against mistaking the word goi as applying to current peoples. Homat Esh has approbations from R. Joshua Baruch Reinetz amd R. Hayyim Halberstam. There are two introductions, the first by the author’s father, R. Meir Eisenstadter, av bet din Ungvar and copied from the Imrei Esh, the second by the author. Next is the text, in two columns in rabbinic type. Homat Esh is, as the title page notes, on the weekly Torah readings, haftorot, Megillot, and Psalms, and Pirkei Avot. There are also discourses for festivals, which, as are the Megillot, are placed as they occur in the annual order of the parashiot. The volume concludes with the4 eulogies, omissions and likkutim, errata, and a half-title page in Hungarian.

R. Menahem ben Meir Eisenstadter (1808-1869) received most of his Torah from his father. He served as av bet din in Saradna and Hust. In 1842 R. Eisenstadter succeeded his father in Ungvar. He was also the author of Zikkaron Yehudah (1869).
