Description
Rare and unrecorded eulogy for R. Abraham Isaac known as Adolph Eisek by R. Judah Ze’ev Weinberger. The latter was av bet din ðéâøòùã and father-in-law of R. Joel ben Meir Katz of Satmer. The title is from “And all the country wept with a loud voice ÷åì áåëéí” (cf. II Samuel 16:23) page informs that Adolph Eisek was a prominent law giver in France, and head of the Jewish community there. R. Eisek passed away on 28 Shevat “But you shall exalt my horn” (Isaiah 92:11) (10 February, 1880). The text, in a single column in square letters, begins, Monday, 12 Adar, in the year, “And it came to pass, as soon as Isaac had finished blessing Jacob” (Genesis 27:30) here ñò÷àøã, “G-d shall answer you favorably” (cf. Genesis 41:16). Reading from right to left are three pages of German with the Hebrew heading æëøåï ðöç and Beugniss veon Dr. Meisel Oberrabbiner in Pest, dated August, 1859.
