Description |

This volume on Jewish ethics and mussar is arranged alphabetically by topic. It contains guidelines of ethics and morality based upon teachings of the Sages in the Talmud Yerushalmi, Talmud Bavli and Midrashim. This material is accompanied by selections from the Rambam and other books.
The author, Haham David Hillel (son of R. Menashe) Sutton (d.1909) was also the author of Masechet Abot (a collection of teachings from the Gemara and Midrashim that pertain to the topics raised in Pirkei Avot. His novellae appeared in the journal Ha Measef and in the books Maaseh Ha'Ish and Sh'al Ha'Ish of R. Yaakob Shaul Elyashar. In addition he joined R. Eliyahu Hamway in providing a responsum for inclusion in the book Shaare Rahamim of R. Rahamim Yosef Franco. He also left a manuscript LeHe'ir al Ha Shulhan, dealing with the laws of Passover. |
