Biography of R. Elijah Hayyim b. Moses Meisel (1821-1921) rabbi of Lodz. R. Elijah Hayyim was born in Gorodok, Belarus and served in several Polish cities before settleing in Lodz. His erudite scholarship, wisdom, piety, and human warmth made him the popular and highly respected rabbinical leader of Polish Jewry. |
