Description
Collected novellae of several important rishonim (early sages) on various tractates and sugyot of the Talmud. The title page states that the generation sees great men, the work of the righteous, their light is like lightning, great and strong. They have taken from these sages, who are enumerated as The Rosh (R. Asher ben Jehiel, c. 1250-1327) and the Rabad (R. Abraham ben David of Posquires, c. 1125-98) on tractate Tamid; The Rosh on Kinnim and Middot; the Rabad on the thirteen middot; Rabbenu David on Perek Arba’ah Missot (Sanhedrin); Tosfot ha-Rosh on tractates Yevamot, Ketubbot, Horayot, and the last two chapters of of Sotah which were not addressed by the Ba’ale Tosafot; Perush ha-Ritba (R. Yom Tov ben Abraham Ishbili, c. 1250-1330). Lashon Hakhamim was brought to press by R. David ben Nahum ha-Kohen. It is dated, “and to the temple, Your foundation shall be laid והיכל תוסד (541 = 1781)” (Isaiah 44:28). The verso of the title page has an Italian text page with the name of the parnassim and the date 25 May, 1781. There are several approbations and then the text, which is set in two columns in rabbinic type. Several sections have their own foliation and the text is enhanced by attractive several tail-pieces.
