Introduction to theology in general and of the Jews in particular by Jacob Friedrich Reimmann. Facing the title page is a full page copperplate with a figure, likely Moses in the foreground and behind him a pastoral view of the Garden of Eden with vaious animals and in the upper right Adam. The title page describes the book as being an attempt at and introduction into the history of theology in common and Jewish theology in particular (Versuch einer Einleitung in die Historie der Theologie insgemein und der juedischen Theologie ins besondere; nahmentlich der juedischen Theologiae Theticae). The book addresses the various and varied principles of their faith, teachings, customs, and ceremonies.

Jacob Friedrich Reimmann (1668-1743) was a noted German bibliographer. Born to a teacher in Gröningen, Reimmann attended high schools in Magdeburg, and began, in 1688 to study theology and philosophy in Jena. From 1692 he was rector in Osterwiek and in the Martinischule. From 1704, Reimmann was minister in Ermsleben and from 1714 deacon and Domprediger to Magdeburg. In 1717, Reimmann was appointed inspector of the gymnasium of Hildesheim. He was a prolific writer – all of his books are notable for their very copious annotations – and compiled a vast library. Among his friends was the philosopher Leibniz.
