[“Collection of legal opinions regarding the question: If a Jew is married in his religion, may he remarry after his baptism, when his Jewish wife refuses to follow him and live with him.

Barakh Levi of Haguenau (Alsace region), a converted Jew, subsequently known as Joseph-Jean-Francois Elie Levi, wished to marry a Christian woman while his Jewish wife (Mandel Cerf) yet lived. The case was analyzed in great depth by several experts in French jurisprudence.
