To resolve the question raised by the title of this work, Webb examines the history of the rights of the Jews in England from the earliest times until the passing of the Jew Bill of 1753. In the conclusion, Webb acknowledges that a major influence in the part he took in soliciting the Jew Bill was due to his personal and professional gratitude towards the Jews he himself encountered. The second part of this work is an “Appendix Containing Copies of Public Records Relating to the Jews.”
