This volume is the first of two volumes. It contains commentaries on the weekly Haftorah, starting with that of parashat Bereishis from the Book of Genesis through the end of the Book of Leviticus. The text is in German with an occasional word or phrase in Hebrew. Many editions of this title appeared, as it was reprinted many times in various cities and at various times.

The book also contains a few tables. The first is the month of Marchesvan from 1866 through 1890. It lists the secular year, and the days of the week and secular dates of Rosh Hodesh .The second table does the same for the month of Kislev, the third for the month of Teveth (through 1891), etc through the month of Nisan. Presumably, the second volume contains the same information for the remainder of the year.
