| A poster announcing an emergency tax which has been levied by the Va'ad HaLeumi (the national committee) which will allow the Yishuv to supply all the pressing needs of the emergency. The tax is "not looking for donations" but is coming with serious claims… for every citizen.
The tax began in November, 1939-January, 1940. Details are given that so far work has been done in three cities – Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and Haifa. The poster states that 300,000 lira of Erez Israel at a minimum need to be raised .Everyone who has not yet pledged is asked to do so.
The poster concludes by saying that every individual in theYishuv should see himself as if he is in an obligatory framework and that it is up to him to fulfill his obligation to the emergency tax completely.
