Detailed Description |
|
Hebrew names utilized in divorce proceedings in Jerusalem. Correct spelling and halachic references are given for each name. R. Moshe Pardo was born in Jerusalem. After serving as rabbi in Jerusalem for many years, he left the city in 1870, traveling to North Africa on a mission on behalf of Jerusalem. On his return trip in 1871 he stopped at Alexandria and accepted an offer to serve as the rabbi of the Jewish community there, a post which he retained until his death. R. Pardo was the author of several works on responsa and novellae including: Zedek u-Mishpat (Izmir 1874) thick volume of novellae and responsa to the Shulhan Arukh, Hoshen Mishpat; Shemo Moshe (Izmir 1874) thick volume of novellae and responsa to the Shulhan Arukh; major responsa in R. Manasseh Sutton's (Sathun), Kenisiyah le-Shem Shamayim (Jerusalem - Aram Zova (Aleppo) 1874); Shir Hadash (Alexandria 1877) poetry and liturgy. |
