Description		    Only edition of these hasidic homilies on the weekly on Bereishit by R. Hayyim Isaac Ayzik ben Jacob Aryeh Yostman. The title page describes Hayyei Yizhak as novellae on the Torah and explanations of many deep things in the Torah in a straightforward manner according to the way of Hassidut. The explanations are acording to the peshat (literal interpretations) but with remez and sod (allusions and esoterica). It is meant to show the holiness of the Torah and the holiness of Israel in each and every detail. Also explained are many insights of the Or ha-Hayyim. It informs that R. Yostman has a tradition that he is descended from the Levush and that he has left over many manuscripts. Hayyei Yizhak was brought to press by R. Moses Lipshits.There are several approbations, including one with several signatures, among them that of the admor of Ger. There is an intorduction from R. Yoistman and then the text, set in two columns in rabbinic type.

R. Yostman (d. 1911) was a talmud of R. Isaac Meir of Ger. In addition to Hayyei Yizhak on Bereishit R. Yostman wrote a second volume on the remaing books of the Torah (Warsaw, 1928), and Siah Yizhak, novelale on the Talmud (Warsaw, 1928).
