Detailed Description |
|
Kabbalistic work on signs and omens resulting from astronomic phenomena by R. Isaac ben Solomon Luria (Ari). The title page describes as the signs derived from loud sounds and thunder and the effects of the spheres. First printed in Constantinople in the name of the Ari. Now, on account of the sign and wonder in this year from an eclipse of the moon that occurred last Purim, seen by the naked eye with the resulting great confusion that followed in the world according to this work, it was determined to reprint it and distribute it throughout Israel. The publisher trusts that there will be no hasugut gevul. The text is set in a single column in rabbinic type. Simane Re’ashim u-Re’amim is organized by month. The nuber of entries average about fifteento a page. A small number of examples are: In Nissan if there is an eclipse of the moon, numerous disputes will arise in the gentile world and the sword (war) will break out between them and there will be little fruit. In Av if there is a great and unusual thunder there will be grat anger inthat state with pestilence and plague. There will be war in the east, bandits will proliferate and murdermerchants, some will become slaves and small animals will die, and large wild animals such as lions, bears, and leoperds will perish. |
