The writer, R. Abraham Anhori, was a Tetuan rabbinical scholar of note, who served as Chief Justice of the Safed rabbinical court. His approbations were sought after and appear in many important period works by many scholars. R. Anhori perished in the 1837 earthquake that destroyed Safed.
R. Jacob Entebi (d. 1846) was Chief Rabbi of Damascus for over thirty years. He was a victim of the Damascus Blood Libel and endured imprisonment and torture as a result. The successful efforts of Sir Moses Montefiore freed him in 1840. R. Jacob immediately left Damascus and settled in Jerusalem.
