Description		    Only edition of this work on reward and punishment by R. Moses ben Aryeh Leib Margoliot of Samenetz. The title page describes it as explaining the subject of reward and punishment, when and how it will be. Hakirat ha-Gemul is based on and follows the works of earlier sages (Hazal). Many, however, are troubled by their works and have raised questions and difficulties. Therefore, R. Margoliot, according to his ability, has endeavored to address and resolve their concerns in order to ease the difficulties that trouble them. There is an introduction from R. Margoliot followed by brief novellae on tractate Kiddushin 46a (5a-b) included so that the page will not be blank. The text, divided into fourteen chapters, follows, set in a single column in square letters. Below the text, in rabbinic letters, are copious explanatory notes. Appended to Hakirat ha-Gemul is Shir le-Radbaz (46-55) (R. Zev ben David Bochner) reprinted from the R. Bochner’s Keter Malkhut and a discourse on the Temple Mount (Har ha-Bayyit), brief comments on books of the Bible translated from Greek, with, at the end, an attractive vignette of two young men sitting at a desk studying with a globe on the floor, a list of subscribers who made publication possible, and errata.
