Documents concerning the emancipation of the Jews and the reform of the civil status of the Israelite Community (Documenti Riguardanti la Reforma dello Stato Civile Degl’ Israeliti) published with a preliminary speech by Carlo Augusto Bucholz, Doctor of law and philosophy in Lubecca translated into Italian and with a preface by Leon Vita Saraval. There is a tqble of contents listing a preface (Prefazione del Traduttore), that it the translator’s preface; a preamble (Proemio); a preliminary discourse; and then discourses on Prussia, the Dutchy of Mecklenburgo, Baden, Bavaria, and Danimarca. These are followed by extracts of the most recent constitution of Paesi-Bassi (Estratto della recentissima Costituzione dei Paesi-Bassi) and Guidizo del Giornale l’Obbservatore Austriaco.
The translator, Leon Vita Saraval, was a bibliophile; born at Triest in 1771; died Jan. 26, 1851. He was the author of "Discorsi Pronunciati all' Apertura degli Studii della Communità Israelita di Trieste" (Triest, 1811). His son M. Saraval catalogued his father's library between 1851 and 1853, publishing the catalogue at Triest in 1853. The entire library was purchased for the Breslau seminary (1853). |
