Description		    Only edition of this series of Hebrew articles assembled from the journal Jeschurun and published separately by Joseph Isaac Kobak. The title page describes it as a gathering of articles transcribed from manuscripts with annotations by Joseph Isaac Kobak, rabbi in Bamberg and the surrounding communities. Below the Hebrew description is German text, which states, Handschriftliche editionen aus der jüdischen Literatur. Jeschurun (Zeitschrift für die Wissenschaft des Judenthums) was a periodical edited and published by R. Kobak. It was less polemical and more scholarly periodical of moderate Conservative tendencies as opposed to several contemporary journals. Jeschurun appeared with interruptions between 1856 and 1878 (nine volumes) at Lemberg, Breslau, Fuerth, and Bamberg. The first volume was in Hebrew only, the remainder in Hebrew and German. The contributors included L. Dukes, S. D. Luzzatto, S. J. Rapoport, J. Reifmann, M. Steinschneider, and D. Cassel. In contrast, Ginze Nistarot is only in Hebrew. It was published in four volumnes bound as two parts, from 1868-78. The contents of the first issue, as an example, include correspondence from R. Jacob of Venice; a selihot for lack of rain; a commentary of Rashi on the yod gimmel middot from which the Torah is interpreted of R. Ishmael; the polemic of Tortosa; five early piyyutim; and a responsa, all with asccompanying glosses.
