Description		    Novellae on tractates Berakhot and Shabbat by R. Jacob ben Isaac David Gunzberg (1743-1814). The title page has the signatures of R. Zevi Hirsch ben Menahem (ben Hayyim) Auerbach, av bet din of Ostrog and rabbi of Leszno and Konin, and author of Divrei ha-Torah on Shulhan Arukh Hoshen Mishpat (1881). The second signature is that of R. Nathan Nata Scheur, av bet din Pila.

The title page of Zera Ya’akov has the formulistic caution against misunderstanding words such as akum, kutim, goi, etc. as referring to modern gentiles. The title is given in German and there is the approval of Carolus Fischer, the censor in Latin. There is an introduction from R. Gunzberg, followed by an introduction from R. Nahum ben Zelig Treibisch, a student of R. Gunzberg, who brought the book to press. The text of Zera Ya’akov, set in two columns in rabbinic type excepting headers and initial words, is in two parts. The first part is hiddushim on tractate Berakhot (2a-4ob) followed by the hiddushim on tractate Shabbat (41a-68a). The volume concludes with errata.
