Description
Addressed to R. Samuel Salant in Jerusalem with an detailed daollar and cents accounting of funds raised in Chicago on behalf of Erez Israel by R. Abraham Jacob Gershon b. Azriel Meir Lesser (1833-1924). His birthplace was Mir, where he was educated. He later moved to Halnika near Suvalk, to Horodok in Vilna province, to Ludvanov in Suvalk district, to Chicago in 1882, and to Cincinnati in 1898. R. Levin was a founding member of the Agudat Harabonim in America. Several of his scholarly works were printed in Chicago at the turn of the century.
