Description
Complete set of ten miniature postcards with the original wrapper, from Mandate Palestine by M. Gur-Aryeh - Bezalel. Each of these small cards is comprised of a front side for the address and, where the stamp is to be place a unique black and white vignette. The reverse side has a Hebrew and English “Post Card” heading and in the middle in Hebrew the text that is from Benei Bezalel in Jerusalem. The vignettes are of a child giving charity to an old man with the caption in Hebrew and English, almsgiving; of two Jews at the Western Wall, one praying, the other sitting, presumably looking for charity, with the caption, The Wailing Wall; a woman drawing water from a well with animals and a tree in the background with the heading At the well; a young man sitting on a rock playing a flute with trees and a dog, with the caption “Ya-Halil; an elderly man dancing before a sitting crowd with the caption A Yemenite dance; gathering crops with the caption Harvest time; two people at a well captioned Job’s well; a person riding a horse praying, captioned A prayer;a sofer at work, captioned Torah Scribe; and last a young man digging captioned Pioneer. The wrapper, with blue ink, has a young man and a young woman leaning on a low pillar facing each other over the Hebrew and facing English text Silhoutes of Palestine by M. Gur-Aryeh – Bezalel, Jerusalem.
