Description
Verse in Hebrew, German, and English on the author’s internment in Novosibirsk (Siberia). There is an English preface by Benjamin Wohlgemuth who writes that Mr. Juda Ari Wohlgemuth wrote this in his first year in Novosibirsk. Due to a lack of paper he wrote the verse into the Pesah mahzor of Mr. E. Kopfstein, to whom this verse is dedicated. Mr. Kopfstein remained true to the faith of his fathers through much sacrifice and brought retained and saved the mahzor through many dangers. The author, Juda Ari Wohlgemuth, was deceased at the time of publication but was remembered by people in several lands for the energy and personal sacrifice to keep and strengthen the observance of mizvot among the jewsih people. It is brought to press by Benjamin Wohlgemuth. The facing page has the same forward in German followed by the text. Pesach 1942 is comprised of the Hebrew poem at the top of the page, below it the poem in German, and at the bottom of the page in English. The poem is a testament to the personal bravery and faith of Juda Ari Wohlgemuth and the entire Jewish people whom he represents.
