Detailed Description |
|
Polemical monograph on a dispute between two haredi communities Adut Haredet and Mahzike Hadas over accepting government funding for their school systems. Mahzike Hadas elected to accept government funding, a decision bitterly opposed by the Adut Haredet. The latter brought this to the attention of Americans who provide financial support to both organizations, with the result that Mahzike Hadas saw a substantial decline in their funding. They then reversed their position and reached an agreement with the Adut Haredet but it quickly fell apart.
Mahzike Hadas is affiliated with Belz Hassidim. It was originally founded in Poland in the late nineteenth century where it was a rival to Agudat Israel.
