An open letter from R. Avraham Tsvi Shor to R. Yehezkel Landau (ben Naftali Herz). The letter begins by saying that since he has moved to Jerusalem he has not been involved in answering questions about community affairs and did not wish to join the Bet Din. Reluctantly he agreed to participate in the committee on shehitah and in the administration of a home for the aged. He continues to say that he does not just agree to the situation, but that he is compelled to speak out against what he sees is wrong.
So what has happened is that his name was given to the ruling Turkish authorities that he is a spy…he was removed from his position in the administration of the old age home and lost his livelihood…
He continues with what has happened to him in Jerusalem and ends by saying that with all these details he is just giving a "drop in the bucket", so to speak.
R. Abraham Zevi b. Samuel Isaac Schorr (1899-1945), chief judge in Jerusalem of the Hasidic Bet Din and fouder of Mahzeki haDat. R. Shor was born in Monasterzyska (presently Ukraine) and settled in Erez Israel in 1909. He was the author of several scholarly works including Minhat Avraham (Lemberg 1891 in his father's Minhat Shai) and Shivivei Eish (2 vol., Jerusalem 1935-44). R. Schorr was descendant of the Monastritz Hasidic dynasty and the brother-in-law of R. Meir Shapiro of Yeshiva Chachmei Lublin.
