Title: Glaubensbekenntniss des ehemaligen Rabbi Salomon Wolf,
und nunmehrigen Christen Christian Ernst, nebst einem Auszug der VOB dem Hrn. Past. Ludeke bei der Taufhandlung in der St.
Catharinen Kirche zu Magdeburg de 4ten Febr. 1772 gehaltenen Rede.
Creed from the former Rabbi Salomon Wolf and from now on named Christian Ernst, together with a speech of pastor Ludeke
which was delivered during the baptism-ceremony in the St. Catharine-church, held at Magdeburg (Germany) February 4. 1772.
Speech deliverd during the conversion of a former Rabbi. The former Rabbi described in his speech that he was a big sinner and worshipper and through his conversion is he now able to come in the heaven. The Church considered the conversion of a Jew a great success and pleasure; the conversion of a Rabbi was a sensation! Whether this conversion was voluntary will remain unsolved as Jews have a long history of ferocious persecutions and systematic humiliations which they endured for their religion. Crossovers were usually the result of these pressures or the financial stability offered by the Church to the poor with large families. Rarely was the conversion based on theology - and many times the apostate reverted to Judaism when the pressures eased.
