Detailed
Description
   R. Ben Zion b. Solomon Halberstam, (1874–1941), Admor of Bobov and scion of the Divrei Hayyim-Zanz dynasty. He was born in Bikofsk in 1874 and educated by relatives in the dynasty. At the age of thirty one he succeeded his father as Admor of Bobov. His court attracted thousands of Hasidim who sought his advice and blessings. R. Ben Zion wrote a commentary to the Torah, Kedushat Zion, which was published by his son, R. Solomon Halberstam. R. Ben Zion was murdered by the Nazis in 1941, and was succeeded by his son R. Solomon Halberstam (1907–2000), who rebuilt Bobov in the United States.

R. Meir Amsel æö"ì records in his epic Holocaust memorial work, Zichronot Hamaor, (vol 2, p. 81) that at age 13 R. Ben Zion was taken to his maternal grandfather R. Joshua of Kaminka to put on tefillin. En-route, the party stopped to greet R. Joshua of Belz. The Belzer Rebbe, upon seeing the Bobover ordered his Rebbitzen to immediately cook up a kugel (served only on the Sabbath) as the Rebbe is in a category of Sabbath (i.e. a very holy man). Pp. 81-164 of the volume contain a very detailed history of the Bobover Dynasty.
