First edition of three works by R. Elijah ben Abraham Yaluz (1860-1929), one of the Sephardic sages of Erez Israel, dayyan in Tiberius. The first work, Hilkhot Ishut, is responsa on marital issues, in the order of Kiddushin, Gittin, me’un, agunot, and be’at ha-Mikdash. There are approbations from R. Isaac Abraham Kohen, R. Jacob Hai Zarehen, R. Jacob Wachnen, R. Moses Kleras, R. Jacob Lipshitz, R. Raphael Moses Albaz, and from rabbis in Meknes, R. Raphael ben Solomon Eben Zur, R. Jacob ben Mordecai Berdogo, R. Samuel ben Jacob Toledano, R. Moses Ben Joseph Berdogo, R. Abraham ben David ben Hassin, and R. Hayyim ben Zacri Masas.
The second work, Toldedot Eliyahu by R. Joseph Hayyim Yaluz, the son of R. Elijah Yaluz, who is described on the title page as the true gaon, wonder of the generation. There is a full page photograph of R. Elijah Yaluz after the title page. Included in the text is correspondence of R. Elijah Yaluz with prominent rabbis, introductions, and other writings by him.
The third work, Yalkut Yosef, is a compilatiom by R. Joseph Hayyim Yaluz on different subjects, such a piskei dinnim of geonim and rabbunim, wondrous tales, more precious than pearls, and a biography of R. Hayyim ben Attar (1696–1743) the renowned rabbi and kabbalist of Meknes and later Jerusalem, author of Or ha-Hayyim.
