Detailed
Description
Adapted from the German of David Leimdoerfer and considerably enlarged. Chronological Table at end. Sigmund Hecht was minister of Kahl Montgomery, Montgomery, Alabama. His purpose in writing the book, stated in the Preface, is to provide educators with a tool with which to teach young Jews that "the history of their people, after the close of the Biblical annals, is fraught with valuable information, with sublime lessons and with examples worthy of emulation...[to] fill them with pride for Judaism and make them its warm supporters and defenders.
