Detailed
Description
Iliowizi was a Russian-born American rabbi and author, minister of a congregation at Harrisonburg, Virginia; from 1880 to 1888, rabbi of the Congregation Sha'aré Tob in Minneapolis; and from 1888 to 1900, of the Congregation Adath Jeshurun in Philadelphia. This is an extremely readable, even-handed, comprehensive, and even dryly humorous treatment of the three great religions, covering Bible and Torah, the prophets, Jewish mysticism, Hillel, Philo, and Josephus, and many, many other great thinkers-Jewish and non-Jewish-compared and contrasted.
