Detailed
Description
Discourses by R. Benjamin Ze'ev ben Solomon Jacobson (1894-1973). R. Benjamin Ze'ev ben Solomon Jacobsson born in Hamburg and died in Jerusalem, served as rabbi in Copenhagen, Denmark. In the introduction to this volume, described as part two, he writes that while in Copenhagen he brought part one to press in 1937. It was his intent to print the second part in 1944, but before he could do so the war occurred and he was forced to flee to Sweden, where he found refuge and was able to write a memorial for the religious Jews of Europe in general and specifically for Germany and his birthplace Hamburg for Agudat Israel, Keren ha-Torah, and Beit Ya’akov. With all this, he had no time to write in Hebrew, so that he determined to publish at intervals what he had written in Hebrew. There are twenty-three discourses divided into four groups. The first is on Talmud Torah, and includes the greatness of Talmud Torah, the education of children by the mother, and Talmud Torah of women. There are four essays on Yehsivah Kamenitz, among them Eruvei Hazerot, Eruvei Tehomom, and on mukzaeh, The final group is comprised of seven assorted discourses, among them the beginning of Pesahim (or le-Arbah eser bodkin et ha-hametz and next the sugya, mitzvah ha-ba be-averah (Sukkah 29b-30a).
