Description		    Letter by R. Abba Hiya b. Zevi Hirsch (Rosenbaum) Hirsch[ler] (1821-1892) chief dayyan of Wagszered. R. Hirsch was a student of the Hatam Sofer who ordained him. He served in several prestigious communities before settling in Wagszered where he served until his passing. An erudite scholar he wrote many novellae and responsa, some published by his grandchildren (London 1993; Bnai Brak 1996-98). Several responsa are addressed to him in the Hatam Sofer, Ketav Sofer, and the Shevet Sofer.
