Detailed Description |
|
An open letter to all Holocaust survivors in Czechoslovakia which asks what should be done to memorialize those who perished. The letter is written in Hebrew by the administration of a Memorial Committee that is listed as being "al yad" [ near or besides] the Histadrut Agudat Yisrael.
The letter clearly has a religious tone to it as it asks the survivors to recall the sounds of the "Shema Yisrael" which were the last sounds made as the souls of the holy ones returned to their Creator. The letter then continues by saying that the only fitting memorial would be to found institutions in the Holy Land which would preserve the Torah way of life. The letter concludes by asking for help with this holy mission. |
