The first lettter is dated the 25th of Heshvan 5718 and contains the intial question regarding the use of a clamp during a cicumcision.Included with this letter is a copy of the handwritten response by R. Silver, adn Rev. Belkin's response to R. Silver on the 9th of Tevet. In the meantime on the 5th of Kislev, Rev. Belkin has sent another letter which had addended to it a letter from Dr. Joseph Miller, a Diplomate of the National Board of Examiners from Yonkers, NY. His letter was seconded by a Yaakov Blum.
The final grouping of 8 pages begins with a thank-you from Rev. Belkin to the members of the Agudas HaRabbanim for reviewing the correspondence between Rev. Belkin and R. Silver.
A full page letter from the aforementioned Dr. Miller is also included, as well as a long letter from Rev. Belkin to Dr, Miller.This is followed by an advertisement for the clamp which includes an endorsement from the Chief Rabbi of Israel, R. Herzog as well as illustrations of the clamp. Also included is part of the patent which was issued by the U.S.Patent Office to Harry Bronstein of Brooklyn, NY on May 29, 1956 (with illustrations).
The final page of this 8 page section is an official ban (ISSUR) in handwritten Hebrew against the eating of poultry which does not have a kosher sign on it (plumba). |
