Detailed
Description
Liturgy for the Hakaphot following the Italian rites for dancing with the Torah on Simhat Torah. The prayer for royalty is cited for Umberto I, King of Italy (Umberto Ranieri Carlo Emanuele Giovanni Maria Ferdinando Eugenio di Savoy, March 14, 1844 – July 29, 1900) from January 9, 1878 until his death. His name is superimposed over his father's, Vittorio Emanuele II, whom he suceeded. He was deeply loathed in left-wing circles, especially among anarchists, because of his hard-line conservatism and support of the Bava Beccaris massacre in Milan. He was killed by anarchist Gaetano Bresci two years after the incident. Umberto I was the only King of Italy to be assassinated.
