Detailed
Description
Letter by R. Issac Joel b. Gedaliah Rabbinowitz (1791-1828), Hasidic Admor and second generation after the Besht. The writer's father was the author of Teshu’ot Hen and a contemporary of the Ba’al Shem Tov, a disciple of R. Dov Baer, the maggid of Mezhirech (d. 1772), and R. Jacob Joseph of Polonnoye (Toledot Ya’akov Yosef, d. c. 1782). R. Issac Joel succeeded his brother, R. Samuel Judah Loeb in 1818 as Admor of Linitz. He was widely respected and thousands flocked to his court, to observe his service to G-d, seek his advice and blessings, and study with him. An ardent preacher who stirred his listeners, R. Issac Joel is one of the sources of hasidic legend. The passing of this holy Admor at the young age of 37 - makes any surviving document by his hand extremely rare and valuable.
