Detailed
Description
Complete set (seven issues) of Ve-Adat ha-Hakirah, a record (transcript) of the investigations of the English Parliamentarians (Shaw commission) in Erez Israel (Palestine) from October 24, 1929 to December 29, 1929. The Shaw Commission was established after the Arab riots in August 1929, which broke out in connection with the question of Jewish rights at the Western Wall. One hundred thirty three 133 Jews had been killed and 339 wounded, mainly in Jerusalem and Hebron. The commission's terms of reference were “to enquire into the immediate causes which led to the recent outbreak in Palestine and to make recommendations as to the steps necessary to avoid a recurrence.” The Commissions findings led to the infamous Passfield White Paper which restricted Jewish immigration. The title pages of each part have photographs of participants and Jewish representatives in the activities of the Commission.
