Description |

First edition of this autobiographical work and search for concepts of truth by R. Solomon ben Hayyim Baruch Brick (1790-1846). The title page states “Buy the truth, and sell it not” (Proverbs 23:23) and continues that R. Brick has added many things that have occurred to him, and they are indeed true and the truth will guide his way. It is dated with the verse “But the Lord is the true God” (Jeremiah 10:10). The text follows immediately after the title page, in a single column in square unvocalized letters. Hakirat ha-Emet is comprised of twenty-nine chapters, concluding with a page of errata. The text deals with matters of faith, hunger and thirst of the soul and related matters.
