Description
Hebrew-Chaldian-Latin dictionary prepared by the Christian-Hebraist Johann Simonis (1698-1768). The full title is Dictionarivm Veteris Testamenti: Hebraeo-Chaldaicvm, vt cvm Biblis Hebraicis manvalibvs compingi qvent hac Forma Editvm. The text immediately follows, in two columns. It is comprised of Hebrew terms, and their Latin equivalents. Related or derivative words are also given. For example, under Adam are four entries inaddition to adamah, adamdam, admoni, and dam, each with the equivalent Latin. In addition, often noted are parts of speech, gender, and whether plural or singular. At the end is Analysis et Expliciatio Lectionvm Masorethicarum, Kethibhan et Krijan . . . with separate pagination. The book has a number of attractive head and tail-pieces.
