Description		    Only edition of this work on what are commonly referred to as the ten lost tribes of Israel by Zevi Kasdoi (1862-1937). Immediately following the title is the verse “And He says, It is a light thing that you should be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob (Shivtei Ya’akov), and to restore the preserved of Israel; I will also give you for a light to the nations, that may salvation may be to the end of the earth” (Isaiah 49:6). Below it the book is described as material on the research concerning the ten tribes collected by Zevi Kasdoi. Both the title and the last phrase are in red ink. The Hebrew title page is followed by an English title page with identical text, a prohibition on unauthorized reproduction, a half title page (also in red), and introduction, and the text. Shivtei Ya’akov is comprised of sixty-seven chapters followed by errata and a summary of the contents of the chapters. It also includes numerous pertinent bibliographic references. Kasdoi’s research on the subject is thorough and impressive. Widely traveled, Kasdoi described his journeys in the Caucasus, Central Asia, Siberia, and the Far East in Mamlekhet Ararat (1912), Mi-Yarketei Tevel (2 vols., 1914), Le-har Sinai (1930) and also wrote Perakim bi-She'elot ha-Zeman (1906), the last parables in Aramaic.
