Detailed
Description
Only edition of these collected writings of R. Zevi Hirsch Moskowitz. The title page describes them as the precious thoughts, wondrous commentaries, and sayings of the sages, in a clear and witty style, in a pure and ethical spirit, taking hold of the heel of a verse or saying of the sages, as explained by the leading rabbis of the generation, compiled by R. Moskowitz. It enumerates R. Moskowitz’s other works, Berucha Meshuleshes, Seder Keriat ha-Nasi, and Kuntress Zikhron Ephraim. Marghita, the place of printing, is in Rumania. The verso of the outer rabbi, lists other works issued by R. Moskowitz’s press. There is a caution against mistaking references to akum and goi, where earlier peoples are intended, to contemporary peoples, and a warning against unauthorized reprintings. A listing of the sayings follows, an introduction, and then the text, in a single column in rabbinic type. The sayings collected by R. Moskowitz are indeed witty and make for enjoyable reading.
